So, as you might (or might not) have noticed, I didn’t post in February. Life got the better of me. Please know I plan to post great poetry craft content later this month (March).

In the meantime, I’d love to make you, my lovely readers, a compensatory offering for missing February: A mutual poetry challenge! I challenge you, you challenge me.

1. I CHALLENGE YOU:

Write a poem using one of the following topics, moods, numbers of lines, and sets of words:

TOPICS (choose one): Sharks, 19th century politics, poppies, crones, or accents
MOODS (choose one): Sarcastic, silly, secretive, or earnest/pleading
NUMBERS OF LINES (choose one): 10, 25, or 40
WORDS TO INCLUDE (choose five): obelisk, risk, crime, olfactory, break, trio, brink, gasp, roil, burn, sacred, nope, pump, broke, adequate, gross, persistent, dogma, floral, wallpaper

2. YOU CHALLENGE ME:

Comment below with a topic, mood, number of lines (max 40), and five words that must be included, and I’ll write the poem! For any challenge I receive during the month of March 2024, I will write a poem and post it in April. Please stay appropriate, no hate speech, etc.
